🍁 2021/Nov: Leaf Crunch #2

Winter Celebration 2021 - a First in Brust Park

The plants are dormant and the animals snuggle in their warm winter homes. We hosted our neighbors and friends for some wintery fun.  In the spirit of giving, we made edible ornaments for the birds and squirrels, and hung those on branches.  To celebrate our human friends and neighbors too, we followed up with a winter evening party:  LED lights were strung, cookies were baked, and cider heated up.  Even with a bit of cold weather, we had a delightful time that night.

❄️2021/Dec: Winter Celebration

Second Annual 2021 Leaf Crunch (November 20/21):

In 2019 we hosted our first Leaf Crunch with generous support from the NYC Department of Sanitation's composting program.  This year we had over 50 volunteers of all ages, including mom with babe in snuggle pack.  Together we gathered over 230 bags of leaves for composting —our goal was 200!

seriously beating our own 2019 record of 181 bags!

Awesome work, fellow Stewards!  And so much fun!
