Dinowitz Attends Brust Park Celebration

       "Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz met with members of resident-led community groups on Monday, August 12 at Brust Park to highlight and celebrate their efforts to improve their corner of the Bronx. Citizens Committee CEO Peter H. Kostmayer and Dinowitz were joined by members of Stewards of Brust Park, Stewards of Henry Hudson Park and Coqui the Chef to learn more about their grassroots projects..."

Brust Park Stewards seed soil for spring blossoms- And a thousand daffodils to you, too

       "On a chilly day last fall, [...] [The Stewards of Brust Park] planted 1,000 daffodils in the park they hope to see blossom this spring in an explosion of sunny color sure to draw attention of passersby and neighbors alike.

      The Stewards wanted to “let the neighborhood know that something really amazing is going on” in their beloved park [...].

And they pulled it off, thanks to a thousand bulbs from New Yorkers for Parks. But more broadly, their efforts are a kind of endless task, physically strenuous at times. But for [the Stewards], it’s a labor of love."

Residents come together to spruce-up Brust Park

      "Four years ago, [a local husband and wife] were sick of seeing six-foot rose bushes take over the park across from their apartment. So instead of letting it become a sight for sore eyes, they did something about it.

      That offending park was Brust Park. Its entrance is right across

the street from Manhattan College’s entrance on Manhattan College Parkway...

      Now, the Stewards are working on a new mission to renovate a garden just in time for spring and summer. [They] secured a $1,200 grant from the park’s department’s City Parks Foundation that made this renovation a reality."
